Chronic inflammation of the body is responsible for premature aging. Tart cherry extract contains natural chemical compounds that inhibit excessive inflammation and have a strong antioxidant effect. These are primarily polyphenolic compounds (cyanidins, kaempferol, quercetin, melatonin, neochlorogenic and chlorogenic acid). Their joint action reduces inflammation markers in the body and thus slows down the aging process [1].
Tart cherry is traditionally known as a raw material for supplements that lower blood uric acid levels and help alleviate the symptoms of gout [7]. Increased uric acid is one of the symptoms observed in metabolic syndrome (obesity, hypertension, diabetes, cardiac diseases). Cherry extract has a beneficial effect on metabolism and biochemical processes in the body and thus has an inhibitory effect on cardiovascular diseases [4].
The strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of tart cherry extract and its beneficial effect on the metabolism of skeletal muscles during their regeneration period [6] have attracted the attention of scientists working with American Olympic athletes [2]. They found that the tart cherry preparations helped them recover more quickly their ability to engage in high levels of physical activity after having previously been exhausted by such exertion. Cherry extract is a natural source of melatonin. Scientific research has established that its use helps to achieve better quality and duration of sleep in both women and men [3]. This research also suggests that Heart Protect is best taken at bedtime.
The second ingredient of our supplement is micronized fiber (pectin) from an apple variety that has unique properties. This is a variety of apples characterized by an exceptionally high content of pectin and other natural biologically active substances. Micronized pectin can penetrate the blood and have a beneficial effect on the health of the entire body by inhibiting excessive inflammation and pathological fibrosis (liver cirrhosis, kidney failure, atherosclerosis). Their anticancer effects are also known [8]. This fiber has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal flora (as a prebiotic) and thus helps protect the liver against the effects of metabolic and environmental toxins [9]. Adding micronized apple fiber is a brilliant solution to eliminate capsule fillers that are harmful to health (e.g., magnesium stearate). At the same time, it is a source of substances that act synergistically with cherry extract.
